We Believe Independence is Not Just a Dream—It’s a Possibility
Spectrum Independence Living (SpIndL) is a nonprofit built on the foundation of empathy, acceptance, and growth. Our mission is to provide affordable services that empower young autistic and neurodiverse adults to live independently in the River Valley. Through dedicated programs in life skills, employment, housing, and financial management, we’re forging a path where every individual has the support they need to thrive.
(Remember: Small beginnings lead to mighty futures!)

OUR MISSION
Elevating young autistic adults to independence.
SpIndL provides affordable services that support and boost young adults with neurodivergent conditions, such as autism spectrum disorder, to living independently. In the program, independence will be coached and practiced by obtaining employment, living in their own or shared housing, and managing their own finances and responsibilities. Through SpIndL and community partnerships, individuals will receive coaching in life skills, employment, and social behavior; mentorships; safety checks; and social opportunities.

OUR VISION
EVERYONE BELONGS HERE
A world where all neurodivergent individuals have access to comprehensive support and job opportunities that empower them to live independently and confidently.
Comprehensive support should be accessible regardless of financial ability to help them develop life skills in early adulthood to increase their potential to live a life of full independence, increasing their probability of long-term success.

We foster an environment of understanding and compassion.

OUR PERSPECTIVE
OUR FOCUS
At SpIndL, our mission is to provide opportunities for young adults with autism to build the skills, confidence, and support they need to live as independently as possible. Everything we do—our programs, services, and partnerships—is designed with this goal in mind.
OUR STANCE
We recognize that autism is sometimes the subject of political, medical, or cultural debates. SpIndL does not take positions on those debates. We do not engage in discussions about whether autism should be “cured,” “prevented,” or politicized. Instead, we stay focused on serving individuals and their families today, honoring their strengths, and supporting their journeys toward independence.
OUR COMMITMENT
SpIndL is committed to respect, dignity, and practical support. Our work is not about ideology—it’s about ensuring that every young adult we serve has the opportunity to thrive and achieve greater independence in their own lives.

Building A community Where everyone thrives
Every young adult in our region has the potential to lead an independent, fulfilled life—if given the right tools and support. While we’re just launching, our January ribbon cutting marked the start of a hopeful journey. At SpIndL, we’re setting the stage for a supportive community where practical resources meet heartfelt mentorship, unlocking doors to brighter futures.
Ribbon Cutting – Fort Smith
✨ In January 2025, we celebrated our ribbon-cutting with a passionate board and community by our side. This milestone is just the spark that ignites our larger vision.
SpIndL Funky Festival — A Night of Grooves & Giving
In April 2025, the River Valley got a whole lot groovier with our very first SpIndL Funky Festival, held at the beloved Bakery District!
The night was packed with live music from GZR, vibrant tie-dye, feel-good food, and non-stop dancing — all in support of a cause that moves hearts and changes lives. 🎶💛
This high-energy evening brought together local families, businesses, and music lovers to raise awareness and support for SpIndL’s mission: helping young autistic adults in the River Valley step confidently into independent living.
Whether it was your favorite boho bell bottoms or your wildest psychedelic print, guests showed up in full funk fashion — proving that when the community comes together, good vibes can fuel great things.
✨ Missed it? Don’t worry — more joyful events are on the way. In the meantime, you can still support our mission and keep the groove going:
